Job description

Purpose of the Job

Thisrole within Operations & Technology team to ensure that resources (internal and contracted) are lead and managed in such a fashion that the execution of project delivery and return phases of the project lifecycle are delivered to meet the project success criteria, including on time, to customer needs and on budget. The project manager will be responsible to effectively manage all risks associated with the project and escalate issues to the project sponsor whilst ensuring that all stakeholders (including the client) are effectively communicated with and updated on project progress. The project manager is also responsible for the quality, health & safety of the project.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Budget & time- Delivery of projects on time and to budget. Annual project budget of more than $5 million.
  • Quality- Management of Project Quality Plan to ensure a systematic methodology for verifying all Quality Control related activities throughout the project including the responsibility for the management and co-ordination of all project specifications, drawings and inspection, test & commissioning plans, gaining necessary approvals and ensuring the distribution and availability of information.
  • Communication- Establish, lead and motivate the project team and identify all project stakeholders, including executive management, ensuring that an appropriate communication plan is in place and executed to keep all project personnel informed of project status, risks and opportunities.
  • Risk Management & Scope- Risk Management approach to project management identifying and managing opportunities and risk to maximize the potential of successfully achieving the project success criteria. Definition and management of project scope to ensure the effective management of success criteria and project benefits.
  • Sales & Operations Planning- Responsible for ensuring that the project delivery & return processes are initiated in line with the Sales & Operations Planning process.
  • Health & Safety- Aggreko places a strong emphasis on health, operational safety and environmental protection.  It is a requirement and moral obligation of each employee to be actively committed and accountable for compliance to the Aggreko Health, Safety & Environmental policies, operating procedures and compliance to local legislation.
  • Resource Management- Management of all materials, manpower and subcontractors required for the execution of the project.  The project manager has the responsibility of selection, sourcing, scheduling and cost appraisal of all purchased materials and sub-contracted services, gaining necessary approvals and ensuring availability of resource in line with the project schedule.
  • Project Management Process- Projects to be executed in line with the defined Aggreko Project Management processes.
  • Continuous Improvement- Identify opportunities for improvement through structured project reviews and work within the global project management team to improve process, quality and safety standards. Actively participate in building the global capability of the project management team through coaching and mentoring.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Preferably degree qualified in an engineering/ project management field. 
  • 7- 10 years relevant experience preferably in complex engineering (energy, civil, oil & gas etc.) or capital type projects and can demonstrate or have evidence of successfully implementing a number of such projects.
  • Project management certification.
  • Operational experience of at least one other key market outside Europe / North America (Middle East, Africa, and Caspian) and can operate in remote locations and with more than one reporting line.
  • Track record in operations and commercial environments, gained within another large and well-run business.
  • Experience of successfully leading / implementing a significant performance improvement programme which resulted in improved efficiency and measurable results.
  • Experience of working globally, particularly with multi-cultural work forces.
  • Experience in leading teams in multiple locations within a project managed business with a global and regional structure.
  • Willing  to show total commitment to the business and to be available 24x7 when necessary.
  • Ability to take decisions autonomously, to act decisively, even when faced with ambiguity.
  • Willing to lead from the front and engage with operational issues and with people at all levels in the company, not status conscious.
